1970s Levi’s sherpa-lined corduroy vest
Description
This 1970s corduroy vest from Levi’s manages to be super-fly and super-cozy at the same time. It’s Sherpa fleece-lined, making it the perfect fall and winter layering piece!
The vest features snap buttons and two front pockets.
For a funky-fresh look, I would personally pair this vest with these really cool Studio 33 flared jeans! But this piece is neutral and versatile enough to toss on over any sweater, jeans, or your favorite dress.
This 1970s corduroy vest is labeled a size L. Measurements, taken flat, are:
B: 21.5″
W: 21″
L: 25″ from shoulder to longest point on hem
Vests were definitely a staple of 60s and 70s fashion, made popular by hippie culture. But like Levi’s jeans themselves, vests got their start as utilitarian wear. Workers, particularly railroad workers, miners, and other laborers, need durable clothing with places to put their tools. Vests were a great way to do that.
Hunters also used these vests, particularly those with places for their ammunition and various calls. Levi’s even offers a history of these vests.
And if you’ve got some old Levi’s hanging out in your closet, but you don’t know how old they are, Heddels has this handy guide on how to date and value your vintage Levi’s jeans.
