1970s yellow formal gown
Description
This stellar 1970s yellow formal gown has a beautiful, subtle rose print and a blouson top. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind formal dress, this handmade lady is your dress! The skirt is pleated and goes all the way to the floor.
I would definitely pick this as a vintage prom dress, especially if you don’t want anyone else to look like you!
This sweet babe would best fit a modern US size 6. Measurements, taken flat, are:
B: 18″
W: 13″
L: 56″ from shoulder to hem
The shop has plenty of beautiful vintage formal dresses, whether you’re looking for a magnificent Gunne Sax dress or a psychedelic beauty of a dress, or the perfect 80s Pretty in Pink dress!
Seventies dresses just hit differently, particularly dresses from the mid- to late-70s. I find the evolution from early to late 70s fascinating!
The early 70s were influenced so much by hippie culture. It’s really kind of an extension of 60s fashion. Dresses like my Gunne Sax (an OG, no less) above or my psychedelic dress would have been totally commonplace in the early 70s.
By the mid- to late-70s, fabrics got flowier and looser. The silhouettes went from tight-fitting to almost gossamer. SewGuide has a really lovely exploration of 70s fashion and the evolution from hippie chic to dresses like this gorgeous 1970s yellow formal gown!
