This sweet 1960s baby doll dress is just one of many 1960s dresses I have in the shop. I personally love this 1960s patchwork dress. I also adore this 1960s green and white checkered print dress and this 1960s mini dress!

If you’re a 90s babe like me, you probably remember that baby doll dresses were everywhere back in the grunge days of the 1990s. But did you know baby doll dresses like this one really gained popularity back in the 60s?

Nostalgia Central has a great retrospective on the origin of these cutesy-poo dresses. The TL:DR version is that the look came from a 1950s movie called Baby Doll about a grown woman who was obsessed with being a little girl. She dressed in these toddler-appropriate dresses with matching panties.

There’s a lot to unpack there, but there’s no denying the 1960s baby doll dress is an iconic look.
